Analysis & Feelings
This story was both creepy and funny. I liked how
Washington Irving created a mysterious atmosphere with vivid descriptions of
the woods and ghost stories. Ichabod was an interesting character – smart but easily
frightened. I felt bad for him but also found his obsession with wealth and
superstition amusing. The ending was cool because it leaves you wondering what
really happened. It makes you think about how fear and imagination can get the
best of us.
